The authors of the newly-released Metalheart book, Anders F. Rönnblom and Andreas Lindholm, both performed with Classes and Seminars at the 3D Festival in Copenhagen, October 23-26.
In his Class, Anders F. was introducing the
Metalheart concept by showing art samples from the book, as well as demonstrating his 3D typefaces and Andreas' techno fonts, and then explaining the different items and products in the project.

Metalheart Feature 1 The Metalheart Project
The Metalheart project was born in the beginning of 1998, initiated by graphic designer Andreas Lindholm and EFX Art & Design Editor-in-chief Anders F. Rönnblom. They released the emBOX/Brainreactor prototype CD with fonts and 3D typefaces for people to experiment with. The plan was to publish a book of experimental typography and graphic design. Today the Metalheart concept includes books, royaltyfree images, tutorials and a newsletter.
ANDERS F. RÖNNBLOM: The last three years have seen a very exciting and dynamic development in digital graphics. Faster and more powerful computers and sophisticated software have resulted in new ways of expressions, where artists are using extremely complex graphics with a myriad of elements and details. This new visual language has also been spread through the Internet, where artworks and design pieces have been integrated with Flash animations. The Metalheart project is a contemporary report of this development.

Metalheart Feature 2 The Metalheart Book
The Metalheart book is a compilation of digital images and projects in progress by the authors, and also artworks by more than 30 invited international artists included in an impressive Guest Gallery. The accompanying CD-Rom includes Postscript fonts, 3D typefaces, hi-res background images, textures and pattern tiles.

ANDERS F. RÖNNBLOM: We were happy to be able to put together such a varied collection of art for the Guest Gallery. It was obvious that a lot of artists, all over the world, had adopted this new visual language, and there were a lot of similarities and relationships between the submitted artworks. Still, we found that originality and individuality are what the Metalheart concept is all about, and that the new visual language has many nice accents.

Metalheart Feature 3 The Metalheart CD-ROM Collections
The Metalheart CD-Rom collections now consists of six volumes. Each volume includes 70 images, and these are big royaltyfree images, 70Mb in RGB (93Mb in CMYK). Six more volumes are in the works, including layered images and motion graphics by Andreas Lindholm & Anders F Rönnblom.
ANDERS F. RÖNNBLOM: The Metalheart CDs with royaltyfree images are a natural progression of the Metalheart project. I initially started to created libraries of graphics and art backgrounds to be used for the production of EFX Art & Design magazine. I finally had so much graphics material in my archives, so when I was approached by Agosto in Tokyo to produce CD-Rom collections of royaltyfree art, both me and Andreas decided that we wanted to go ahead and contribute to the design community. The idea was of course that this would boost the whole Metalheart Project.
